Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County (CCE) is pleased to invite community members to a free Energy Literacy Event at the Cuba Circulating Library on January 22nd at 6:00 PM. This event is to help residents across the Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties save energy, reduce household energy costs, and make informed decisions about sustainable living.
The session will be led by Divine Jones, Sustainability Campaign Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County, who is dedicated to bringing approachable, practical energy education to local communities. Divine's work focuses on helping individuals and families understand how small, achievable changes can lead to meaningful savings both financially and environmentally.
“We want community members to feel supported and empowered when it comes to energy use in their homes,” said Divine Jones. “Energy literacy isn’t just about understanding where your energy comes from it’s about knowing how to make choices that improve comfort, reduce costs, and contribute to a healthier future for our region.”
At the event, attendees will learn:
- Practical ways to reduce energy use at home
- Low and no-cost strategies to lower utility bills
- How to access energy assistance and upgrade programs, including NYSERDA-supported initiatives
- Steps families can take to improve home comfort during winter months
Participants will also be able to ask questions and learn about additional NYSERDA-based programs available throughout Cattaraugus County.
Cornell Cooperative Extension encourages residents of all ages and backgrounds to attend, whether they are looking to save on energy costs, explore sustainability practices, or simply learn something new in a welcoming community setting.
